The grand piano at Mackay’s Conservatorium of Music isn’t sweating it outside in the heat.
The instrument is kept in its own air-conditioned room at the CQUniversity Mackay campus to make sure it stays in mint condition and is not damaged by the heat.

“Part of the music and theatre degree is that all pupils have to learn fundamental computer keyboard,” she said.
“It depends on space when it comes to using the grand piano.
“When we’ve got live concerts on stage we’ll use the grand piano. However , as soon as we use the orchestra pit we can not get the grand down there.”
Dr Brown said the grand piano, purchased in 2001, was consistently in use by the pupils.
“The grand piano was handcrafted by Stuart and Sons and attributes Mackay cedar,” she said.
