Green fund set up to help businesses replace old HVAC equipment
The £7m Carbon Trust green fund has been made available to small businesses in the UK
The Carbon Trust has announced a green fund for small businesses in the UK to use towards the replacement of old, energy-guzzling equipment, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
The £7 million Carbon Trust fund is available on a first-come-first-served basis, so any small or medium-sized businesses that want to apply for a portion of the fund is advised to register interest as soon as possible.
Companies can apply for a maximum of up to £10,000 (or up to 15 per cent of a replacement/installation project). Successful companies will also receive a number of added bonuses, including energy saving advice, cost-cutting assessments and implementation support.
The fund is available to businesses in England, Scotland and Wales who want to install energy efficient equipment or upgrade old and inefficient equipment.
This fund can be used for the purchase of energy efficient HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) units, and efficient lighting units and controls, as well as other controls used in the retail, manufacturing and hospitality industries.
The Carbon Trust expects its fund to help between 1000 and 2000 small and medium-sized companies across the country to install energy saving equipment, thus resulting in expected lifetime savings of £130 million.
The managing director at Carbon Trust, Hugh Jones, said: “Our experience of working with thousands of companies across the UK indicates that year-on-year savings of 20% to 30% can be delivered through action on energy efficiency. We’d encourage smaller companies to apply to make the most of the fund…”
