Faulty air conditioning leads to major Vodaphone signal blackout in Sheringham area
Faulty air conditioning systems have been blamed for the loss of mobile signals in the Vodaphone network.
The issue lasted 4 days, and was described as the “worst it has ever been” by business owners and residents in the North Norfolk town.
Apparently the issue lay with air conditioning units at the Beacon Hill mast, at West Runton – causing equipment to overheat and stop working.
Vodaphone responded saying: “We’re sorry some of our customers in north Norfolk experienced intermittent loss of coverage over recent days”
“The air conditioning in the cabin at our site at Beacon Hill, West Runton, became faulty which caused the site to shut down as the equipment overheated. This had a knock-on effect to a number of other sites in the area as they link into the rest of the network through the West Runton site.”
The problems are not new though, since the main mast was relocated from the old fire station in the town.
