Air conditioning noise worries for new Lutterworth supermarket

Noise from new air conditioning units has been used as a key planning argument in the proposed plans to turn the Sir Frank Whittle pub in Leicestershire into a supermarket.

The application is to convert the pub into a Co-op Supermarket, but has been hit by 130 letters of opposition.

Concerns include:

  • Is there really the need for the store?
  • Increased traffic
  • Threat to local traders

The other issue was about the noise from an outdoor air compressor used to drive air conditioning on the site.

“I object with all my heart. It will close the shops nearby and that will mean more empty shops.” said local resident John Baggaley.
